Smooth Sailing Bookkeepers, LLC was founded in 2018 by Lynae Bourke and Juli Sullivan. The company is headquartered in Bacliff, Texas, but with the focus on remote bookkeeping, we can service clients not only in the greater Houston-Galveston area but also throughout the state of Texas and nationwide.
Prior to starting our own bookkeeping service, we worked together for 12 years managing the business and financial office for a petrochemical service company. Each of us has over 25 years of experience in business including bookkeeping, payroll, departmental management, and administration spanning a variety of industries. Our jobs were challenging and rewarding but after all those years of working for others, we both hoped to one day have a business of our own. When the opportunity presented itself, we decided it was time to put our experience into our own business venture, and suddenly our dreams became reality. Our jobs are still challenging and rewarding, but now we get to make the rules. We can honestly say that our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner.
Our passion for success is translated into the dedication we have for our clients. We know what it is like to be a small business owner and our number one priority is to help our clients succeed in their business goals, so they can enjoy the benefits of their success.
MEET YOUR BOOKKEEPERS
Juli Sullivan
I have lived on the Texas gulf coast all my life and League City has been my home for the past 14 years. My husband and I are empty nesters except for our two Yorkshire Terriers who now rule the house. I started out training as a bookkeeper in my first “real” job back in 1985 and I have been doing it ever since then. My responsibilities and job titles may have grown and changed throughout the years, but bookkeeping was always the backbone of my job. I was lucky to have some great mentors along the way and I am grateful for all of their guidance in my professional journey. I try to pass that spirit of mentorship on to all my clients and it's fulfilling when I see them understand how bookkeeping can affect their business in a positive way. When I’m not working on your books, I enjoy beachcombing, making jewelry and other crafty endeavors. Lately, I have also been dabbling in graphic design a bit but learning designer and publishing programs is much more challenging to me than learning bookkeeping and financial principles was!
Lynae Bourke
I was born and raised an Iowa farm girl but have been a Texan since 1995. As the saying goes, I may not have been born here, but I got here as fast as I could! My family and I have been residents of Bacliff for 5 years now and we love being near the water. We share our home with two dogs and a mischievous Bengal cat, or maybe I should say they share their home with us. My professional background spans a little bit of everything from retail management to city secretary to billing and contracts management. While they weren’t formally bookkeeper positions, they all required bookkeeping in one form or another and allowed me to build business knowledge in a variety of settings. I believe that my varied experience allows me to talk with my clients in straight-forward, everyday language that tends to put them at ease. I’m a people person, so I like to get to know the individuals behind the business, which helps me to give my clients personalized service. In my off time, you might find me enjoying live music performances, out on the boat fishing with my husband (did I mention we love being by the water?), or camping.
